Is it time?

Baseball is around the corner, I can feel it. We reached 50 degrees today so the remaining mounds of snow and the ice that is fighting for its life on local ponds will be gone soon.
Spring is trying to spring and its got me a bit giddy.
Right now I am sitting in a waiting room looking at this baseball poster and although I am not a huge sports fan I am looking forward to baseball this year.
Maybe it's because we watched Moneyball this week. Maybe it's because I'm tired of being cold and wearing a heavy coat. Whatever the reason bring on baseball.

French Toast

A friend of ours brought us a loaf of bread from the Japanese market it looks a lot like Texas toast and she said it makes great French toast. (Wow what an international sentence that was.) I made it into French toast and she was right.

E wanted to help and begged to put the bread into the egg mixture (eggs, cinnamon and vanilla - yum) I told him if he had his clothes all on and his hands washed he could help. The prerequisites were too high and he passed on helping. He did get dressed before I was done but it was too late.

He came up to me and asked, "Is it French yet?" thought I would lose it.

Kids DO say the darnedest things.

Black WIndow Spiders

My son caught frogs this weekend with his Nana for a teacher that collects frogs. Teacher was VERY surprised that E actually followed through and brought them in for her. The kids swarmed around as he presented her with a plastic jar with frogs in it.

On the way to school that day we talked about what frogs eat - bugs – and what else eats bugs. Spiders eat bugs I told him.

"Yeah like black window spiders!"
"Don't you mean black WIDOW spiders?" I asked
"No! Black window spiders. They are black and they crawl up your windows and eat bugs"

So there you have it. An explanation of black WINDOW spiders from a 4.5 year old. (that .5 is SOOoooo important to him that I had to put it in.)

I have a lot of other stories but Katemade Designs in taking up a lot of time that blogging the kid cute just isn't getting done. Sorry.

words of the day

Yesterday morning, before I was even out of bed, E asked me to make a TINT BOIL helmet so we can pretend that we're on Mars. Now I have heard the song "Hats" on the CD his teacher gave him for Christmas many times but I never heard TINT BOIL, I've always heard TIN FOIL.

Last night we called Nana so E could tell her the new poem (tongue twister) he had learned.
"I want to tell you a po-lem Nana"
"A what?"
"I po-lem, it's when things rhyme." (you could hear the "Duh" in his voice"
"Oh a poem, ok"
"Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear.
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy
was he?"

Then she told him a joke:
"When do cows go to sleep?"
"I dunno"
"Pasture bedtime"

He 'cracked up' (his new favorite saying from a book on tape) then we asked do you get it, do you know what it means.
"No"
Now it was our turn to crack up.

Must work now.
