I haven't been blogging like I used to because the time I used to use for writing is now the time I use for crafting/stamping/card making.
I have been debating becoming an SU demonstrator and the debate is over I'm doing it. The things that put me over the edge, my family saying "You can always quit if it's too much or you don't like it, and you'll only be out $200." The other plus was that E gave me his blessing to do it, not that I really would be affected too too much by a 4 year olds refusal of a blessing but it helped. He wants to help so it will be fun. He watched me working on a design the other day and was fasicnated by the whole process of stamping and cutting, cropping images and layering.
Now on to the kid stuff.
This weekend we went sledding for the first time this year. I was finally warm enough to go outside but not so warm that the snow was all melted, like it is today. We were the first ones, only ones, on the small hill at the local golf course. We go there because we can walk from home without killing the out of shape mommy or the little kid. We tried to go down together and it was clear to me immediately that I wasn't going to be a passenger for long. I sat down and the sled SANK into the snow. my butt is too heavy and wide for the sled we had.
E went down several times but he couldn't get the sled back up on his own so I walked up and down the hill numerous times. The drifted snow made it a bit slow going for me but it was really tough on E's shorter legs, good thing he had on snow pants. I widened the path with each trip. I trampled from side to side trying to clear a path for him. I used the nose of the sled to dig out a path. After a while I realized that my caboose may fit down this run. And I asked E if I could try it on my own. It worked GREAT. We went down 2 or 3 times more and then he was ready to go home -- darn it just as it was getting fun for mom.
I dragged the sled with him in it on a shorter snow path than usual and I made him walk on the sidewalks. We met a neighbor boy who was playing by himself on a mound of snow and ice the snow plows had left on the lawn at the end of the street. E wanted to play and we spent some time there. Then moved the fun to the smaller hill between our neighbor's houses in the middle of our circle. The boy went home and got his inner-tube sled and we took turns going down the hill on the different sleds. It was a blast. E got to the bottom of the hill, got up from the sled and began to walk away. "Where are you going?"
"I want to go home."
"Ok" I picked up our sled and the neighbor boy was right there offereing to carry it home for us.
Then he asked, "Can I borrow this until I'm ready to go in?"
E immediately said, "Yes."
Mom being a bit more cautious asked when it would be returned.
"Within the hour"
I was so pleasantly surprised that it was returned at all but he was earlier than I thought he'd be. I didn't even have my dry socks on yet.
Yes we were both soaked -- even though he was wearing snowpants his socks, pant cuffs, shirt sleeves, hat and mittens were soaked; for me it was just my mittens, pants, socks and underwear.
Well it's too late to get the stuff together for SU tonight so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
Happy Ash Wednesday to you, enjoy those eggs, pancakes, cheese pizzas or fish dishes.
