The sound of defeat

Rumble. Rumble. Crash. Rumble.
It's the garbage truck collecting the week's waste but to me it is the sound of defeat. I missed it. I didn't get my act or my garbage together and out to the curb. I'm so glad we have the 90 gallon bin with wheels. It holds a month's worth of trash. I would never let it sit when the critters are running, but in the winter when they are hibernating it works great.

Lights
We were on our way to an event at church Friday night and it was dark. E asked if it was his bedtime.
"No, why are you tired?"
"No. It's just so dark."
"Yes it is. But you have a few hours before bedtime."
"It's a good thing we have butt lights so the other cars can see us."
"What kind of lights?"
"Butt lights!" I could see in the rear view mirror that he was pointing behind him.
"Oh tail lights. We have head lights and tail lights"
"Yeah. They're on our butt."

Machines
I was doing laundry last week and E asked if he could help. "Can I put the clothes into the laundry machine?"
"It's called a washing machine."
"Washing machine."

On the same trip mentioned above E out of the blue said "Drying machine"
"What?"
"Drying machine, to go with our washing machine."
I explained the washer/dryer idea and he seemed to get it but I wondered what was going through his head as he was working the names for these things out.

Well I must get dressed. E has 15 min. of Disney on-line games coming if he can get himself dressed by himself in time and I think he's almost done. He's doing so go with that. I lay them out for him "LIKE A MAN, MOM!" Well he's done, even has on shoes. I'm so proud.

Later.
